The Burdiehouse Burn Valley Park Local Nature Reserve is the largest greenspace located in Liberton/ Gilmerton neighbourhood, a key asset which links several communities together, some of which are classified as deprived areas. The park follows the Burdiehouse Burn and is an important green corridor for wildlife such as otters, kingfishers, herons, foxes, kestrels and buzzards.
A large number of young woodlands have successfully established in the park and give the local residents the opportunity to experience the outdoor and interact with nature right at their doorsteps.
The park has something to offer to all type of users: an enjoyable walk for walkers and dog-walkers, accessible and good path network for cyclists and horse riders, football pitches, a skate park and a teenage play area for the youngsters and lots of seats for those who need them.
A very active Friends of park group organises lots of practical conservation activities and gets involved in fund raising to carry out projects and events for the local community.
