Starbank Park lies on high ground located on Startbank Road, Edinburgh. It commands dramatic panoramas over the Firth of Forth to Fife. The park is divided in two by Starbank House, owned by City of Edinburgh Council. Formal rose beds once dominated the garden to the rear. An eight pointed star with crescent moons cut into the bank on flanking sides facing out across the Firth of Forth, depicts the ‘Star of the Sea’, believed to be symbolic of a ship’s compass and harking back to the days when Forth sailormen navigated the oceans by the stars. Starbank Park has an extensive and interesting history that has been enjoyed for over a century by local residents. The design of the park has never been altered over the years.
