Slessor Gardens

Slessor Gardens is located at the heart of Dundee’s central waterfront overlooking the Firth of Tay. The park, formally opened in July 2016, is part of the £1billion transformation of Dundee’s waterfront and will be set amongst attractive boulevards in a stunning space dominated by the award-winning V&A Museum of Design Dundee.

Slessor Gardens is a multi-functional space comprising two central lawns surrounded by smaller, more intimate ‘pocket gardens’. As well as being a space to relax in, the park is also a popular venue for events ranging from pop concerts to Christmas markets and peaceful yoga sessions.

The ‘pocket gardens’ are themed to reflect Dundee past and present, eight reflect historic global connections, key local connections and industries. Others include a sensory garden, the V&A Dundee community garden and another representing the geography and setting of Dundee. The ‘Discovery Walk’ also provides another insight into Dundee’s history, this trail celebrates the variety of people who made important contributions to science and society.

Located a short walk from Dundee’s railway station and main bus routes with Dundee’s bus station close by in the city centre. The National Cycle Network passes close to the park with cycle parking available nearby. The park is fully accessible with level paving throughout, dropped kerb edging and traffic controlled pedestrian crossings accessing the site.

City centre amenities are only a few minutes away on foot, including restaurants, cafes, retail, hotels and leisure attractions such as the RRS Discovery, The McManus Galleries and HM Frigate Unicorn.
