Delamont Country Park
Delamont Country Park is located on the shores of Strangford Lough. It lies within the Strangford Lough and Lecale AONB and enjoys a distinctive landscape consisting of woodland, open parkland, drumlins and shoreline. The site is rich in both natural and built heritage, including areas protected for their international significance. The earliest settlement on the site is thought to date from 600 to 1100 AD and notable built features include an ancient rath, the 47 tonne ‘Strangford Stone’ megalith and the Victorian Delamont House. Delamont is the perfect ‘Window to Strangford Lough’ providing a definitive place to view, explore and experience its natural beauty. The Strangford Lough Canoe Trail can be accessed from the Park and the site boasts a bird hide offering views of the Lough’s diverse bird species, including the resident Heronry.
Delamont has a wide selection of family friendly services and activities. The park features an extensive adventure playground, forest and shoreline walking trails, miniature steam engine railway, fresh air gym, café, room hire and BBQ/picnic areas. There are five main walking trails at Delamont, ranging in distance from 1km to 7km. As all are inter linked they allow users to extend or shorten their route as desired. Each trail starts and finishes at the main car park and all are suitable for people with limited mobility.
