Did you know that UK's 9 million dogs produce over
1,000 tonnes of waste each day? That weighs as much as 200
elephants or 100 double decker buses.
Dog mess affects everyone. It is unpleasant to see it lying
around on pavements and in parks, and it's even more unpleasant to
step in. But the good news is that the Dogs Trust, in association
with Keep Britain Tidy, are launching a new campaign to ensure most
of this mess ends up in the bin.
This year's campaign is "Be a scooperhero" and its really easy
to be a Scooperhero with your dog ...
1. BRING BAGS with you before you set off on your walk
2. BAG THE MESS if your dog has fouled, but be careful to not
get any on your hands
3. BIN THE BAG in any public bin
4. CLEAN YOUR HANDS using water or hand sanitizer
If you'd like to spread the word, you
can download a poster and leaflet from the
Dogs Trust website.
For schools, councils and community
leaders: If you would like to take part in The Big
Scoop through events or ordering materials please use The Big Scoop order form on the Dogs
Trust website. You'll be able to order capes, rosettes, posters,
leaflets and poo bags to help you promote your events or
campaigns.
